Kia ora! I’m Georgie, and I’m excited to be the NZLSA President for 2027!

After serving as LAWSOC President in 2026, I’m really looking forward to working alongside the incredible NZLSA Council and supporting law students across Aotearoa. I’m passionate about ensuring students have a strong voice, feel supported throughout their studies, and have access to opportunities that help them thrive both at university and beyond.

I’m about to enter my final year at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha, where I’m completing my LLB(Hons) and DipSc. Outside of law, you’ll usually find me at the gym, trying new coffee spots, reading, or spending time with friends and whānau.

Administrative Vice-President

Kia ora all! I'm Zara Innes, and I'm thrilled to be your 2027 AVP. I'm currently studying an LLB/BCom (Finance and Accounting) at UC | Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha.

I look forward to handling all things admin and helping to keep this organisation running smoothly behind the scenes (I have always loved a good spreadsheet!). I can't wait to work with and support the wider executive and council.

My path is a bit different to most, as I don't come from any of the regional LSS executives. I did, however, lead UC Women in Business as president in 2026, and I'm excited to bring those learnings to a new executive and meet great people along the way.

Outside of studies, you'll find me with a good coffee, ideally on a morning walk outdoors.

Treasurer

Kia ora, I’m Portia and the Treasurer for NZLSA 2027!! I’m super pumped to get stuck in supporting the team to help law students all across the country. I’m finishing off my LLB in Jan but will be still found at the University of Canterbury finishing off my arts degree. I have loved being apart of the clubs scene at UC so am excited to take this passion to the big leagues.

Kia ora, I'm Lola! I am excited to serve as your Competitions VP for 2027. I am in my final year studying Law, Neuroscience, and Politics. Over my time at university, I have enjoyed participating in law competitions and serving on club executives, including as President of the Politics Society and Social Representative of SOULS in 2026. My involvement with law competitions and NZLSA began with Junior Negotiations in 2024, and competing as a national negotiation finalist in 2025 and 2026.

These experiences have made me really passionate about giving back to the association, building on the work of past CVPs, and helping create a fun, welcoming, and educational environment for next year’s competitors!

Kia ora! I’m Emily, and I’m super excited to be your Education Vice President for 2026!

Having experienced my fair share of challenges throughout law school, I understand how overwhelming it can be. My goal as EVP is to make your law school experience a little easier, more supported, and more connected.

From creating and analysing the National Wellbeing Survey, to developing practical resources on clerkships, navigating law school, and effective study strategies, I hope to provide tools that support you. I’ll also be overseeing the Submissions Committee and creating more opportunities for students to engage with NZLSA.

Marketing Vice-President

Kia ora and mabuhay!

I’m Janre, and I’m so excited to be your Marketing Vice-President for 2027! I’m in my final year of studying an LLB at UC. Before joining NZLSA, I served as Obiter Officer for LAWSOC and Chief Operating Officer for the Asian Law Students’ Society in 2026.

I took “graphic design is my passion” literally and haven’t looked back since. I’m looking forward to bringing some fresh ideas to engage with our student body, including a possible TikTok account (word on the street…). If you have any content ideas, you know who to contact!

Outside of studying, you’ll find me trying different restaurants and cafés around Christchurch!

Council of Legal Education Representative

Kia ora! My name is Will and I am one half of the CLE reps for the 2025-2028 term alongside Helena. I decided to study law largely because no other degrees quite sparked my interest, and I could not be happier with the outcome. In 2024 I had the privilege of being AULSS President, a role which made me excited to apply to be a CLE Rep when the opportunity arose. I hope that alongside Helena, I’ll be able to advocate strongly for student and young professional interests at CLE meetings and beyond, and to mentor successive NZLSA Councils to help deliver the most to law students across Aotearoa.

Kia ora, my name is Hamish McKelvie, and I'm super excited to be the AULSS President for 2027. I study law with a conjoint in Spanish and History, and my passion for the law has only grown throughout my degree. I have previously been involved with AULSS as one of the Society's sports officers, and in my spare time I enjoy running and getting outdoors. Our mission as the 2027 Executive is to build on what came before us and continue to foster a community that makes law students feel included, with an emphasis on diversity, as well as preparing students for an ever-changing workplace. AUTLSS PRESIDENT

I’m a fourth-year law student at Auckland University of Technology and have the privilege of serving as the 2026 AUT Law Students’ Society President. I've been actively involved with AUTLSS throughout my degree, particularly through my role as one of the two Competitions Officer in 2025, where I worked with practitioners and law firms to deliver competitions for students. Outside of law school, I enjoy staying active and trying new things. I speak multiple languages and have a strong passion for sports, including kayaking, wrestling, and horse riding. I’m always keen for a challenge and enjoy pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.

Hi everyone, my name is Jorja Griffiths, and I am entering my third year of a law degree with a minor in Theatre Studies. I am really excited to have been elected as the Waikato University Law Students’ Association (WULSA) President for 2027. I have been proudly involved in WULSA for the past two years as a General Officer and as a Competition Officer. I am passionate about the legal community and about creating a supportive culture where all students feel connected. My goal is to ensure that all law students are empowered academically and socially. When I am not studying, you can often find me at the gym, singing or shopping.

VUWLSS President

Kia ora, ko Lola tōku ingoa. I'm incredibly excited to be the VUWLSS President. I will be in my fifth year of my LLB and BA majoring in Māori Studies and Theatre. VUWLSS has been one of the best parts of my university experience and I'm grateful to return as President and to use the experience I've gained as the Social and Publications Officer previously.

It is my goal to foster the community that is so essential to VUWLSS. It is really such a special place, located in the heart of the country and I implore all of our students to take every opportunity that comes with it.

Kia ora, I’m Thomas and I’m stoked to be 2027’s LAWSOC President. I’ve been involved in LAWSOC and NZLSA in 2025 when I accidentally found myself competing in Aus, and have been getting amongst all things law-y soc-y ever since. I’m excited to represent the country’s best LSS on the NZLSA level, and look forward to working alongside the whole NZLSA team to push for student interests this year. I’m also aiming to increase the accessibility and capacity of our events for students in Ōtautahi.

Kia ora, my name is Hannah, and I am honoured to represent SOULS (Society of Otago University Law Students) as President for 2027 and to contribute to NZLSA in this capacity. I am in my final year of my LLB and BSc (majoring in Anatomy), and I have had the privilege of being the SOULS VP for 2026, and am excited to continue to give back with my new role.

I am looking forward to working collaboratively with NZLSA to advocate for, support and create opportunities for tauira both in Dunedin, and across Aotearoa. The SOULS 2027 Executive will be focused on creating inclusive events and initiatives, and continuing to build strong relationships with the wider legal sector.
